The commercial product
will consist of a handheld battery powered electronic instrument
that uses an easily mounted disposable sensor. The sensor has
a biological coating that specifically binds targeted molecules
upon exposure to a patient sample, such as blood, urine, saliva
or any liquid substance.
Signals from the sensor indicate whether or not a target is
present as well as its concentration. Rapid Diagnostek’s
sensor technology can detect and quantity an array of disease
related biomarkers or other substances of interest very quickly
– within 60 seconds, in one step – without sample
preparation, reagents, or lab facilities.
The sensor design allows for mounting an array of tests for
many different targets for cost effective profile testing. The
speed of test results enables immediate decision making in the
treatment, quarantine, or other actions related to disease or
substance detection, thereby improving health and the quality
of life.
The instrument will automatically transmit data to a laboratory
information system or other centralized data bank.
